Rick Armstrong the Photo Artist and Documentarian

MY STYLE

I am a photojournalist always trying to capture the energy and mood of my surrounding environment. I prefer not to be noticed and feel that I capture the essence in a non-posed setting easily in this manner. I do also love portrait and studio shooting capturing the shadows and highlights that expose the subjects’ mood and beauty. I spend many of my early mornings perched steadily in front of the Tetons in search of the perfect shot. I have a passion for the image that shows in my work and anyone who has worked with me knows that I thrive with a camera in front of my eye. My client list is a testament to my work.
MY HISTORY

I have been shooting cameras since I was the age of eight years old when my father gave me my first camera. I have been compiling my works ever since. My training has come from a variety of sources but most notably my time spent working on the other side of the lens as a professional skier. Having been in over 50 movies and Television shows such as 6 Warren Miller features, MTV Winter House Party, Sally Jessie Show, ESPN X-Games, and others. This training has allowed me to work with some of the greatest photographers of our time - such as Gallen Rowell, Chris Nobel, Wade McCoy, Bob Woodall, Scott Markewitz, and many others. During this sixteen year long career. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel around the world to places such as India, China, Europe, Antarctica, South America, South Georgia Island, and many places in between. I always had a camera with me and consistently probed the photographer that was with us on techniques and style. This has given me a body of work that consists of over 30,000 images and it has also gotten my images published in over 30 publications including National Geographic, Outside, Powder, and etc…
